Chanel Glossimer 166 Amour

When I was last at the Chanel counter, I picked up a new Glossimer in the color Amour (166). Much to my delight when I arrived home, I noticed the sales associate had tucked a tiny gift version into my bag.

Amour was part of the the Roses Ultimes de Chanel collection last winter. According to the online literature, the model below is wearing Amour over Chanel's Pink Sugar Lip Pencil (which also contains shimmer). And, yes, they do look that beautiful together.

For some reason the promo picture reminds me of a Kate Bush album cover.

When I look through the tube, I see a cool pinkish peach, or maybe when I turn it just so, the color appears more as a sheer, slightly-bright coral.

Pretty

Some Glossimers are very shimmery, but Amour's glitter factor is more subtle.

Bottom line: Gorgeous, especially this time of year when the made-up world is wearing bronzes and peaches.

All photos mine except for the Chanel promo and Kate bush album cover. Obviously.

  1. It's so pretty! Sigh.
Do you have any Chanel lip pencils Zuzu? Are they worth it?

    1. Yes, and no. I had no idea Pink Sugar contained shimmer when I picked it up. Who puts shimmer in a lip pencil? Shimmer-crazy Chanel, that's who!

I don't think Chanel pencils outperform some much cheaper ones, such as by Julie Hewett (which I always buy during her 40% off sales) or even MAC. There's no need to spend $30 9n a lip pencil, IMO, unless the color is a dead-on match. To be fair, a lip pencil could last me a few years, so I guess over time, $30 isn't that big a deal.

    2. Thanks Zuzu! I've always wondered. I've never bought a high end one because I thought they were a waste of money. Guess I was right for once! :)

    1. It is rather orange, isn't it. Kind of like a Creamsicle.

I would swoon to see a baby Rouge Coco lipstick!

    1. She certainly is! She also slipped in generous perfume samples of various scents (including mens) and a tiny travel foundation brush. Love her.

  8. I would have thought this shade might be too warm for you, no? It is pretty, though!

    1. It is a little too warm on its own, but over the Pink Sugar pencil, I can get a color almost exactly like that blonde model. That said, it's definitely not my best. Jalousie (technicolor fuchsia) is my best Glossimer.

  9. I love the mini Glossimer! I love how some products can be coaxed into working better like layering this gloss over a pencil!

  10. Your pictures inspired me to purchase this glossimer! And an fyi, I thought the Pink Sugar definer had been discontinued. At least I thought that when I purchased multiples for back ups!

    1. WHY do they always discontinue the colors I love best? Nordstrom still has Pink Sugar, so maybe I will get a backup, too.

      I hope you enjoy Amour!
